Responsibilities
include (but not limited to):
- Preparation of the federal and state income tax returns related corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies and real estate investment trust (REIT) returns on a timely basis.
- Prepares federal and state extension requests and quarterly estimated payments for the various companies.
- Substantial interaction with accounting and other finance departments especially in regards to data collection.
- Research various tax issues, including complex partnership, REIT and state tax laws.
- Prepares projections of taxable income and earnings and profits in order to determine the required REIT distribution.
- Prepares the REIT quarterly checklist in order to ensure compliance with the REIT tax rules.
- Reviews corporate and partnership legal documents and correspondence as needed to ensure correct preparation of tax returns.
- Assist in the accumulation of requested information and review of proposed audit adjustments by IRS and state and local taxing authorities.
- Perform Special Projects as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related.
- CPA License (or CPA Candidate) preferred.
- Two to four years of relevant work experience including tax reporting responsibilities for Real Estate Investment Trusts, complex partnerships and or real estate entities.
- Minimum of two years’ experience with Big 4 or Regional public accounting firm.
- Demonstrate strong research, including written documentation skills.
- Strong computer skills (Excel and Word) and experience with tax preparation and research programs (i.e., Prosystems, CCH).
Salary:
60,000 - 70,000
