Staff Accountant

Rapidly growing, successful, private industry company in West Los Angeles is seeking a sharp staff accountant to join their team.  The staff accounting will apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by compiling information, preparing profit and loss statements, reconciling account transactions, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures.  Position reports to the corporate controller.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Daily Cash Posting

• Monthly Royalty Calculations

• Month End GL Account Reconciliations

• Sales Tax Returns

• Treasury Duties

• Bank Reconciliations

• Credit Applications Preparation

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepare profit and loss statements and monthly closing.

2. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions.

3. Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.

4. Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.

5. Prepare and review budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents.

6. Analyze revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budget levels, and ensure expenditure control.

7. Explain billing invoices and accounting policies to staff, vendors and clients.

8. Resolve accounting discrepancies.

9. Recommend, develop and maintain financial data bases, computer software systems and manual filing systems.

10. Provide accounting policy orientation for new staff.

11. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

• Knowledge of MAS200 financial and accounting software application.

• Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.

• Heavy reconciliation and analysis.

• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.

• Three to five years of accounting experience.

• Detail orientated.

Salary:

Market and experience with range of 45,000 to 55,000 plus benefits.
